Romeo and Juliet

This epic tragic love story has moved literally millions of people over hundreds of years. It has been on stage on every continent, in countless languages. And its stars, the young Romeo and his Juliet, are probably the world's most famous lovers. Songs have been written about them, everyone knows the story and it holds us enchanted with fascination, no matter how well we know the plot or how often we see the play. But here's a real theatrical treat! Kenneth Branagh's new theatre company is staging the Bard's unforgettable tragedy. Richard Madden and Lily James are in the starring roles, and it's on at London's splendid Garrick theatre.

What's the story? When Romeo spots Juliet for the first time during a street riot, he forgets all about the long-held enmity between their families and the pair soon fall truly, madly and deeply in love. Sadly their feuding kinfolk are not happy about the romantic union and the tragic pair end up dead. On the bright side, their deaths ultimately reunite the two warring families, but peace has come at a horribly high cost. Expect high drama, top quality acting and all the passion Branagh brings to everything he does. Shakespeare at its best, don't miss it.
