The Producers

The first major London revival of Mel Brooks’ musical adaptation of The Producers transfers to the Garrick Theatre this Autumn following a sold-out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

Based on the classic cult film, the original Broadway production won a record twelve Tony Awards, and skewers Broadway traditions, taking no prisoners as it proudly proclaims itself an “equal opportunity offender!”. Down-on-his-luck Broadway producer Max Bialystock schemes with timid accountant Leo Bloom to create the biggest flop in theatre history - only to have it backfire spectacularly, and with thunderous applause.

Critically acclaimed principals Marc Antolin, Trevor Ashley, Raj Ghatak, Andy Nyman, Harry Morrison and Joanna Woodward all return triumphantly for the West End production, which opens on 15 September, with previews from 30 August.

Hilarious. Great dancing and acting.
We sat in the third row from the front and had a great view, although the stage is pretty high in relation to the seating. It's an irreverent show, with great dancing and dazzling costumes. Really hilarious, and I laughed until tears came. Might not suit you if you are too woke, as it takes the Mickey out of various groups, including Nazis and Hitler. Thoroughly enjoyable evening's entertainment! Highly recommended. There is some interaction with the front row.

Refreshingly non PC.
Hilarious. Not for the easily offended but some brilliant lines in there. There's no fancy stage tricks or impressive scenery but neither are necessary. Everything all.done at stage level so no worrying about the circle/balcony blocking your view of anything at the top of the stage.

Brilliant
Saw it 20 years ago . Much more money spent on the set but you know what this was absolutely brilliant. We loved it . Nothing is lost if not better .

Filled with energy
Great production. The cast worked so hard to give tge audience that ‘first night’ feel to the show. Hence their energy enhanced the fun of it all.

A Great Show
Very amusing. Great music and top acting.

Refreshingly politically incorrect!
I loved it - I had worried that it would be ‘cheesey’ and dated, but from the moment it began was captivated by the fabulous fun ‘play within a play’. The irony being that the actual story was of audiences unexpectedly loving a play designed to be a failure …” where did we go right?” … and that I thoroughly enjoyed a play that I thought would disappoint me! - one needs to switch off, sit back and enjoy this fabulous generous production!

Did not enjoy the Nazi references
Not a family show. No recommended for anyone

What a great production!
Saw this years ago when it was last in London. This production was even better. Loved the costumes, sets, effects and the great band.

Surprising
Not like the film, a little bit gay for me, but not a problem.

Fab u lous
We absolutely loved it after seeing a couple of shows recently that didn’t quite hit the spot . After about a minute I thought like this and my husband said the same thing. The cast were brilliant especially the main leads . We had a great time .. thank you .

There’s No Business Like Show Business
Hilarious, musical, and slightly adult. But it’s beautiful!

Such a good feel and vibe actors were clearly enjoying themselves wonderful

A fun evening out
This show is over the top in every way. The Producers wish to produce a flop so deliberately choose the worst actors and singers and deliberately seek to insult everyone. The costumes and sets are extravagant. It is actually very entertaining and great fun.

An entertaining romp from the archives.
Some very entertaining moments, some very funny. However, the message is unclear and the show somewhat dated. We would advise visitors to research the play and its offering before booking.

Producers
Very good

More energy than the original movie and as funny
There are almost no dead spots in this production. It starts early and almost never stops. Extremely witty and well acted.
ANDREW, 25 Sep 2025
Magnificently tasteless
A memorable production of a modern classic. A monumental spoof of Broadway musicals. Utterly tasteless, wholly hilarious.
Martin, 10 Sep 2025
Beat that!
It was one of those rare times when I left the theatre thinking I'd short changed them on the tcket price, and wanting to pay more!
Edward, 07 Sep 2025
Very bad seats and mediocre performance
I’ve seen the same play in Broadway. Nothing to compare. Very mediocre and too much gay propaganda without any particular reason. The director shouts when singing.
CHRISTINA, 16 Jan 2025
The best show of 2024
Without doubt, the best show of 2024. The cast, orchestra, production staff, and venue have created a spectacular performance.
