Young Frankenstein

Can you wait until September 2017 to laugh your socks off at a classic comedy? Young Frankenstein the musical is in town, and it's going to be a barrel of laughs. How do we know? Because it's the stage version of Mel Brooks' wonderful 1974 movie starring Marty Feldman and Gene Wilder, which is in turn a comedic version of Mary Shelley's Victorian horror story, a tale that has inspired and terrified generation after generation. Young Frankenstein is on stage at the Garrick Theatre and it's tipped to have audiences in pieces, helpless with laughter, thanks to a fresh new production and the considerable talent of director-choreographer Susan Stroman.

What's the story? When the eccentric brain surgeon and professor Frederick Frankenstein inherits a Transylvanian castle and laboratory from his nutty grandfather, Victor Von Frankenstein, he is faced with a very tough decision. Does he play safe and run screaming from the castle without going anywhere near his relative's crazy experiments? Or does he follow the unwise route and carry on the experimental work his granddad began? Reanimating the dead isn't particularly appealing. But on the other hand the lovely yet sinister lab assistant Inga is waiting in the wings... and the rest is, as they say, history. Don't miss the fun.
